Svenja Berndt
Svenja Berndt is a yoga and movement teacher with more than 4,300 hours of teaching experience. Her work is rooted in a holistic, science-informed approach that views movement as a tool for physical resilience, mental clarity and self-awareness. Rather than focusing on isolated skills or shapes, her teaching integrates strength, mobility, flexibility, coordination and nervous system awareness - always with intention, context and respect for individual processes.
Her practice is a thoughtful blend of dynamic, purposeful movement, intense yet mindful poses, playful transitions, inversions and grounding, calming moments. Movement is never random. It is done with awareness, direction and meaning, inviting students to not only move better, but to sense deeper, understand their bodies more clearly and build a sustainable relationship with their practice.
Before dedicating herself fully to teaching, Svenja worked for seven years as an intensive care nurse, an experience that profoundly shaped her understanding of the human body and the close interconnection between physical, mental and emotional health. This medical background continues to inform her work today, grounding her teaching in anatomical knowledge, physiological understanding and a deep respect for the nervous system, recovery and long-term health.
Svenja runs her own yoga studio in Cologne, Germany, and teaches international classes, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings. She sees practice as an ongoing process rather than a final destination - engaging honestly with oneself, taking on challenges, trying and trying again, succeeding and failing, meeting frustration and learning to grow from it. She deeply believes that movement can open doors to much more and considers it a privilege to accompany her students on this journey, on and beyond the mat.
